Circles

Owen has been very silly lately. He has become more comfortable around others and shows off more often as well. One of his new favorite things to do it spin in circles.

In other news... he finally cut a molar through (top right)! How many more to go?

Flasher

Owen has started a new naked trend at our house. He will either show you his belly over and over again or he will come to you and ask you to take his clothes off. He wanted his clothes off today only for him to walk into the laundry room and bring his coat to me. He wanted his coat and hat on and thought that we were going to go "bye bye". Another ritual at our house is to walk around most of the day looking for "dada". Basically that means, walking around and saying "dada" over and over again... today he did it naked with his hat on.Another favorite is to play with the humidifier in his room, even though it is an "no no" in our house. Keith and I turn it on and off with our feet rather than bending over to hit the button... it is pretty darn cute when he tries to balance on one foot to hit the button with his other foot.
Not much other news. He is mimicking so much lately. He has mastered climbing, thanks to daycare. And he has developed quit the tantrum skills. We love him so much and are grateful for every day we have with him!

14 months

Owen is now 14 months old. He is walking everywhere and into everything. One of his new favorite toys is our swiffer. He makes car noises as he pushes it around for 5-10 minutes at a time. He also brushes his teeth at least 3 times per day. I think that he just likes biting on the hard plastic... his molars are coming in.He got his second haircut the other day.He is still a good eater most days. He weighs 24 lbs now and has quite the belly on him. We affectionately call his belly button and turkey timer because it is mostly an innie however it does "pop" out when he eats.Another favorite toy: my camera case (empty of course) In other news: he is starting to talk. He says "cook" when he wants to play with pots and pans. Bana is banana. He says something and points to puppies, but I'm not sure what he says exactly. He's been fighting a cold lately and his sleep has been interrupted a lot more, but all in all a healthy little man.

Home

Keith and I got back last night from a 5 day trip to Mexico. It was a great trip with wonderful friends, but we sure did miss our little guy!We celebrated Valentine's Day at home. Daddy even took the day off. Owen got new crayons and paper. He LOVED coloring. It kept his attention for about 10 minutes... that's a long time!In other news: Owen no longer likes to eat bananas cut up. He will if I give him a fork, but he must not like the mushy feeling on his fingers. Instead he prefers to eat it like a "big boy".O also got a new "ride" from Nana and Papa B. It was intended for him to push, but I'm certain that this will not be the first ride we give him. He's making car noises in the picture.
Happy Love Day to our family and friends!

Snow Day

We woke up this morning to this drift in our driveway! Owen and I are standing behind it. It was up to my waist!!!! Thanks Papa and Daddy for clearing the driveway. There is still quite a large pile of snow in front of the house... it may take awhile to get rid of all this white stuff.Owen has turned into quite the outdoorsman. He threw himself on the floor in a tantrum when he saw daddy going outside without him. I bundled him up and we made it outside for a short sled ride and then back to the garage for a little "car time". He could ride in it for hours... literally! Check out those rosy cheeks though. It was COLD!The rest of the day was spent playing in the tunnel.Climbing the stairs. (another favorite that he could do for hours)And playing with some play-doh. He doesn't really like to "squish" it, but he loves when I make things and he pulls them apart.
Back to work tomorrow, but its already Thursday!

13 months old!

For starters: O had a weird case of the "ick" last week. He was fine all except these weird purple dots (picture is blurry, but you try to get a 1 year old to hold his hand still with a camera to grab!) all over his right hand and forearm. The doctor said they are petechiae and they are fading... no harm done.Moving on...
Owen loves books. He frequently pulls out books and sits quietly to "read" by himself for 5-10 minutes before naps or bed. Daddy's hat.He also enjoys "helping" with cleaning. He loves unloading the dishwasher, "folding" laundry, and "dusting" furniture with any rag he finds.New car toy (thanks Aunt Jenni). He has developed quite the motor sounds. He has also recently learned to stand-up without pulling himself up on something. Quite the task and usually involves a grunt and sticking his tongue out.A look that I'm sure I will get many more times as he grows up.2 favorites:8 teeth in and swollen gums with molars working through!Owen also loves playing on chairs. He can get himself down, but not up.Today I noticed he had "placed" his pasta scoop into his hammer holder in his cargo pants, that's where your tools go... taking after Papa Becker already!

Other new things:

Some words: outside, all done, mama, dada, ball, what's that

He's still signing: eat, more, please, help, milk/drink, all done, bye

What does a duck say? "kak kak" (every animal says quack quack, but its a start)

He knows where is nose, arms, and hair are. He also knows what to do with a remote and telephone.

He clearly understands many things that we say. He is very active and spends most of his time just walking around picking things up and carrying them around. He still sleeps well at night and is generally a happy guy. He HATES brushing his teeth and its a screaming battle every night. We treasure every day with him and can't imagine loving anyone more!

Attack of the 1 year old

Owen has really developed a personality. He now lets out squeals when he wants something or throws his head back when he gets mad. Bed time has also become a challenge at times. He throws out his blankies and then gets really mad when they aren't in his crib.O had his 1 year check up last week. He got 5 shots and a finger stick blood draw. He was not happy at all!Our 1 year old is right on track:
22lbs (40th %)
31.5in (95th %)
Head: 19in (90th %)
Tall, skinny dude with a big head... more room for brains! He thinks that he should climb into everything (tunnel-style) but very often gets stuck inside.Unfortunately for all of us, especially O, I think he is getting more teeth. He chomps on everything and has gotten a short fuse. Here he is with 2 cold "chewy toys" (teethers) in his mouth plus one more at his feet. Finally, we switched him to his big boy seat. We were excited because we thought he would enjoy seeing out and seeing us. However, he thinks that we should now entertain him at all times and constantly tries to look down at things he drops!
What a silly boy!
