Baby Shower

Today Owen and I were given a wonderful baby shower by some friends of my MIL. It was a great shower with great food... Thanks ladies! After the shower, Owen was sooooo tired from all the excitement that he couldn't even stay awake to check out his new things, but there were many great new outfits and books!!I woke him up...after a 3 hour nap and he was still tired!!!!!!! He played a little bit though and then off to play with Grandma so that mommy and daddy could enjoy a nice dinner together. Thanks mom! Cousin Zoe shared her blankie with Owen and even her thumb...that's a big deal!
Tomorrow is baptism so more pictures to come!

1 Month Old

Owen had his first visit to a restaurant tonight. We ate at Hu Hot to celebrate cousin Hannah's birthday but we were also celebrating Owen's 1 month birthday! That's right...my little baby boy is a month old already! He wore his fancy shirt for the occasion. Also, I'm pretty sure he weighs 10lbs! He is growing so fast. Check out those chins!!!!!

I also wanted to share a couple photos of Owen's nursery for those of you who haven't seen it. Here's just a few:

I'm also going to share a couple pictures from bath time. These pics are from his first bath...he was cold and did NOT enjoy it. He is now able to be in more water and stays a little warmer. He enjoys it much more.

Babywise, for those of you wondering, seems to be working for us. Owen naps well during the day and sleeps for a 5-7 hour stretch at night. It is also helping me feel more confident in our daily schedule and we get out a lot more. I'm a Babywise believer at this point...some just call me a bit psycho though. It could be that he is feeling better due to Prilosec too. He seems more comfortable.

Owen also is starting to make more eye contact. He follows things with his eyes and is starting to reach for things. He pulls his head up very well and holds it up for a few seconds during tummy time. He really wants to smile and I think that he will any day now...of course I've been saying that for a few days now. I'm anxiously awaiting him to start making some purposeful noises and find his voice.

Milk

Zoe (age 2) is very interested in breast feeding. She nurses her baby and has even gotten the rest of her family involved.

Owen: today was a great day. We had a great night so mommy and Owen were both well-rested and ready for a fun day. It started with some fountain pop and playing, followed by nap time (thanks Papa Dan for watching Owen while Nana and I ran out to the mall). Owen got lots of new clothes for this next fall and winter! Finally, walking tacos at the Allen house. Great idea Hannah. Thanks for supper mom!

Let's get started!

I'm new to this blogging thing, but I just want to follow Owen's life as he grows. More to come as I play around with it. I'm officially a blogger!

To date, Owen is 4 weeks old. I can't officially say he's "One Month Old" until Tuesday. He is a very content little guy and doens't complain about too many things. He is also growing like you couldn't imagaine. He was 7lbs at birth and at 4 weeks old tips the scale at a whopping 9lbs 6.5oz. What a healthy eater. I packed up his newborn clothes yesterday. Not only is he a chunky monkey but he's a long guy...just like his daddy. (Born at 21.5in).

Owen is generally a good sleeper but we do have a couple bad nights per week. I have been pretty worried that he has some reflux for the past 2 weeks. I took him to the doctor on Friday and we started him on Prilosec. Hopefully this helps otherwise he may have a milk protein allergy...leading him to switch to soy formula. Or he could just be a little colicy. It has been 48 hours since starting the Prilosec and our last 2 nights have been good so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Also, being stuck at home with hardly any sunshine has driven me to reading more. I picked up Baby Wise and have decided to start Owen on a more strict schedule. I do feel a little crazy though when I'm forcing his "full feedings" and waking up my sleeping baby so that we maintain his 3 hour eating schedule (daytime hours only, I let him sleep as long as he wants at night). Anyway, we have friends that swear by Baby Wise and we have friends that swear when you bring up Baby Wise so we will see how it works for us...wish me luck!

This past week Owen started taking bottles more often since I have finally started to get out of the house. Here are the Allen kids feeding Owen his bottle. I'm pretty sure Zoe would sit with him on her "yap" (lap) all day long if I let her... she is very mothering.

More to come as Owen grows and I figure out this blogging thing!
